Micro-chipping Update

This is Maya a very beautiful Husky pup
A big thank you to all our supporters old and new that visited our orange trailer at Jollyes, Flint on Saturday. Despite a lot going on in the High Street we still had a number of 2 and 4 legged visitors, even some past residents of NCAR visited us, which is always great. As you can imagine when Maya came to be micro-chipped she proved to be quite an attraction. But we also had a visit from Noe, a recent resident, now happily re-homed. It was great to see Noe so happy with his new family

On the day we micro-chipped 16 dogs and 2 cats which, in the event that they go missing, should ensure a speedy return to their anxious owners.

It only takes a couple of minutes and that is taken up with the paperwork mainly. So a couple of minutes of your time can ensure a safe return of your pets if they are found roaming and all for only £10 (NCAR Price).

We will be publishing where our orange trailer is visiting throughout the summer so if you want your pet micro-chipping, visit us at NCAR or our trailer it's at an event near you this summer.

Thank you Jollyes for publicising our event and doing all you can to help get as many pets micro-chipped as possible.

As I prepared this blog BBC Crimewatch Roadshow was promoting micro-chipping for all pets following a story on pet thefts.

AVID Pet MicroChip
This is what a micro-chip looks like
And if you are wondering how a micro-chip works, well it's a sophisticated electronic device which has been pre-programmed with a unique number, it is implanted in to your pet via a small injection, very similar to that of a vaccination.
Your pet's unique MicroChip identification number is registered on the UK Database alongside your contact details.
As your pet's MicroChip contains no battery it is read using a special scanner, which powers the MicroChip allowing it to send a signal back to the scanner. This is then displayed as a number on the screen of the scanner.

And how big is it? Well slightly bigger than a grain of rice, we can show you one when you visit to get your pet chipped.

MicroChipping your pet is a simple procedure that will stay with your pet for life!
